Qualifications

Long-Time Resident of Harker Heights

As a long-time resident and businessman of Harker Heights, Tony Canterino would be an ideal addition to the Harker Heights City Council. His reason for running for office is to help maintain the quality of life that the citizens of Harker Heights both expect and deserve. He is well-established in the business community through his position as a board member and Secretary of the Harker Heights Zoning Board of Adjustments (ZBA).

Tony’s professional credentials are impressive, but his pride in civic involvement is equally demonstrated. He is involved in or sponsors various organizations throughout the State of Texas. With the pandemic, he recognized the need for the healing power of music, so he is a major sponsor of the Tocarre Wind Symphony in North Texas. Another organization that he is passionate about is Benson Equestrian, which helps autistic kids, wounded soldiers, and victims of abuse. Tony has recently become a member of the Dallas Safari Club, which provides hunter education programs and environmental conservation efforts. Tony is an avid fisherman and helps sponsor local fishing tournaments. He also sponsors individual kids who are involved with dance classes, tumbling classes, and music lessons.

Professional

Tony’s profession showcases being a jeweler with a 41-year career. After graduating from trade school, he has built a very successful business with Anthony Joseph Jewelers. As an established part of the community, he has worked closely with past and current Harker Heights City Council members, and he is very well-versed in the laws and ordinances of the city.

He is a man of vision and that vision for Harker Heights includes continuing the opportunity for growth in all areas of this city. Tony knows the importance of keeping homes and businesses safe, while keeping taxes in check. Attracting new businesses to Harker Heights is key and Tony is ready to help that happen.

More About Tony..

On a more personal level, he is happily married to his wife of 16 years, Aesuk Canterino. He has three daughters, four granddaughters, and a grandson. Rounding out his family is his rescue dog, Dutch (who also happens to be the coolest dog on the planet). His love of family and community, in addition to his civic involvement and professional experience, would be an asset to the Harker Heights City Council and enable him to continue to serve the community.
